freedom

((now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.)) 2 Corinthians 3:17

why is it that we as humans are so afraid to be free? I believe that it is impossible for us, on our own, to fully accept the depth and magnitude of the unbridled grace that is extended every moment. how could it not be impossible for us to comprehend? it doesn’t make sense. it doesn’t make sense that there is a star breathing God that cares about your every moment. it doesn’t make sense that an innocent Man loves you enough to take your guilt, shame and mistakes on His shoulders even as you scoff Him daily. it doesn’t make sense that at the foot of the Cross lie our broken chains and silenced lies. freedom doesn’t make sense to us because we in some way sense the vastness of which we could’ve never been good enough to be free. in some way we see the unrelenting Love in the eyes of Jesus and can’t keep looking because we feel like it’s not for us. in some way we’ve convinced ourselves that we are too far gone, too messed up, too removed to ever experience true freedom. these things are simply not true. somewhere along the line we let ourselves believe the voices of reason outweigh the voice of Truth. somewhere along the line we learned to live with our chains and accepted their empty weight without ever noticing that they were are no longer holding us. somewhere along the line, we chose fear over faith. fear hurls endless lies that contort thoughts and leave us hungry for approval. fear keeps us from the beauty God has for us if we are just willing to reach beyond ourselves and to His arms. fear will inhibit you from the vibrant life you’ve been designed to live. in Jesus there is no fear, only freedom. freedom sings truth that heals and restores, leaving us whole. freedom allows us to step boldly into God’s will for our lives, trusting that in every step, He is there to lovingly walk beside. freedom enables us to run our race well. freedom is victoriously won at the cross of the King. so why is it that we as humans are so afraid to be free? I believe that it is impossible for us, on our own, to fully accept the depth and magnitude of the unbridled grace that is extended every moment but that endlessly confusing and undeserved gift is a beautiful thing unknown, and a perfect peace to live in. it is a place of life, of light and of true freedom where love will always win.
